Each Summer, students also have the opportunity to participate in archaeological fieldwork as part of ongoing research projects led by faculty members. These excavations take place at carefully selected sites and allow students to gain hands-on experience in archaeological methods, including excavation techniques, stratigraphic analysis, artifact processing, and field documentation. Prior to the field season, students receive training in excavation methodology and research design within the course 鈥業ntro to Archaeology鈥.
The fieldwork not only offers practical skills essential to archaeological research but also immerses students in the historical and cultural contexts of the region. Participation in these projects helps students build a strong foundation for future academic or professional careers in archaeology and heritage management.
